How is this made?
For these boards, I use a bandsaw to cut different kinds of wood and glue it together (usually several times) to create a one-of-a-kind woven pattern. When I'm satisfied with the design, I plane and sand the wood to create a smooth surface. I then move from the wood shop to the art studio to hand-burn the outline of the elk and fill it with an acrylic paint pour. The piece is finished with a coat of shellac, and comes with a sawtooth hanger on the back for easy wall mounting.
All items in my shop are 100% handmade by me! All pyrography is done by hand with an electric wood burning tool.
