How is this made?
For my inlay boards, I use a dado saw (multi-blade table saw) to cut a groove in my base board, then I glue in the contrasting strip of wood. After planing and sanding to create a smooth surface, I use a hand-held router to shape the edges of the piece. Then I move from the wood shop to the art studio to hand-burn the outline of the elk, and fill it with an acrylic paint pour.
The piece is finished with a coat of shellac, and comes with a sawtooth hanger on the back for easy wall hanging.
